You first go from border crossing towards the town Pluzine, but before you arrive there you should turn left to Trsa, which is just a village with a caffe :) You then continue on and come to Zabljak. All of it should not take long, about 2 hours.
Then, from Zabljak you decide will you go to Niksic or to Mojkovac (both roads are fine and both can take you to Podgorica). If you don't need to go to Mojkovac, you should take the road to Niksic and continue to Podgorica.

You have some nice views on this trip, but you will not be passing many unpopulated areas, it's all civilisation :D

PS. We officially use euro as currency (in Montenegro), so don't worry about that. ;)

well, i think that for me it would be very hard to decide which road to go:
niksic-zabljak-mojkovac
or
niksic-podgorica-mojkovac

aether way you will go thru one of 2 very beautiful canyons: Moraca or Tara...

Tara is officially cleanest river in Europe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_River_Canyon" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and
Moraca is also very beautiful - but probably there will be more traffic on that road http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mora%C4%8Da" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Brilliant, thanks again everyone. You sell the area so well, without being biased, Should I scrap riding into Kosovo and just do more in Montenegro?

My normal route was Zablijak > Mojkovac > Bijelo Polje > Rozaje > Peje (Kosovo), > Decan > Dakovica > Krume (Albania) then Durres and ferry to Bari Italy..3 days.

I can scrap Kosovo and do the additional roads you mention in Montenegro?

Any KTM dealers over that part of the world?

Cheers
Phil

Well, I must be biased now :) hehe
I think what sparco said is very good rout because that way you will see 2 canyons and then you can compare which one is more beautiful :)
Also, next to Podgorica are ruins of Duklja (Doclea) - it is not very tidy as the state does not recognize its potential, but it is rather beautiful... but in order to visit it, you will need some of us assistance, as the regular road to it is closed due to reconstruction :(

BUT (always there is BUT :))

depending on your time you might want to go from Podgorica to Cetinje, then through national park Lovcen over Njegusi to Kotor, then from Kotor follow the coast to Bar where you can catch ferry to Bari...

I recommend this road as it is very nice tarmac surface (it is a bit narrow I must say - just enough for 2 cars to go by, as it is very old)... it has astonishing view over Boka and Kotor bay, and it has 25 (i think, sparco please correct me if I am wrong) "U" turns... probably one of the most beautiful roads to enjoy driving in (at least by car :) - it is also local rally championship track :) )

Njegusi is old village, known as a birthplace of our royal dynasty Petrovic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Njegu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;ši
there is humble museum in their family house

Kotor is old city with citadel (old town), whose parts are old more than 20 centuries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotor" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After Kotor you can go to Budva (unformalized "capital" city of Montenegrin tourism - it has old citadel also) and then to Bar (it has old citadel as well :) but this one is bit out of town center)

On the other hand, I must say that in Albania it would be nice to see Skoder (Skadar) and their old citadel, so you could go from Bar to Ulcinj (has old town as well :)) and then to Skadar - from where you can decide if you wand to go back to Bar or go to Dures to ferry (and maybe see some view of Tirana on the way :)... road from Skadar to Tirana is rather "new", so it is very good drive... but also it can be a bit boring as there is not much to see in between just plains, some old bunkers, and meat shops next to road where animals are butchered by the road - on the spot - and sold out disregarding all the dirt, exhaust gases etc :)) very nice phenomenon :)

One more thing - i do not want to scare you or so, as this is just a friendly "warning" - most people in Montenegro and especial Albania are not used to motorcyclists on the road... sometimes they do not notice you in the rear-view mirror, so if you will be making some taking overs and you are not sure if they see you, just honk :)
this might be a bit of overreacting, but just for your safety :) :)

also when you are in Albania keep some 10 meters distance in and watch out for your sides as down there they love to change lanes without signalizing the intention :)

again, this is a bit overreaction but jsut to let you know as I would not like you to remember us by crazy car drivers :)

I don't know about Kosovo, but you have much more wonderful roads in Montenegro: from Cetinje, via Lovcen/Njegusi, to Kotor; from Virpazar, via Ostros, to Ulcinj (but this one is also partially closed due to forest fires), etc, etc.
