Help please! Zabljak

Post by oceangolf123 »

Hi, I came accross your blog and I'm travelling on my own down to Greece
> from Belgium. I plan to take the road from Mostar to Gacko, then up to

> with a heavy KTM bike so.... How long would it take from Foca to Mojkovac

How often are fuel stations on this road as well?

All advice is welcome, I'd also like a good view of the canyon on my way if possible

Cheers

Hi. First of all, have a nice trip and welcome to Montenegro. :)

I'm not sure about the strech of the road from Foca to Scepan Polje (border crossing to MNE) - it's all tarmac but I heard some parts are 'eaten up', although I haven't been there in a long time, maybe it's fixed.
Rest of your planned trip is all asphalt. From turning to Trsa and to Zabljak the road is relatively narrow, after that it's all two-lane highway. But it's tarmac all the way. And don't worry about the gas stations, there's plenty of them :)

if you want a good view of canyon, sorry i now checked your post again, then dont go via trsa, go toward niksic, from pluzine , you will ride upwards the canyon and see it very good, then from niskci there is new short road to zabljak
risk,is what makes life worth living.

when will you go?

please check if the road zabljak-mojkovac is open then.

it was closed for traffic due to forest fires. currently it is open only from 7-20h...

you can check it on Auto-moto Association Of Montenegro http://www.amscg.org/pages.php?id=3&lang=en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
in case that there is no report in English, check MNE version and "assist" yourself with Google translate :)

Hi, many many thanks to all of you, this information is great and I look forward to visiting your country. Re re road closure, I would be there 22-23 August.
I'll leave my spare fuel can at home then as the 10 litre KTM tank gets me 200km!

and the short road you mention is also tarmac? How long would it take to ride down to Nik and then short road back to Zab?

I thought the road from trsa to Zab looked beautiful on the map, if I take the road to Nik then I would miss the road between trsa and Zab out, is it worth it?

Thanks!

I wish I had so much time!! I have to go from Mostar to Zabljak in one day...would also plan on now taking canyon road and the short road you mention. if my ass does not hurt too much and I have a spare 2 hours, I could go down to nik and then come back again, then Trsa to Zab?

Also I tried to buy foreign currency but nowhere in Belgium or Italy sell it. does everywhere accept euros or can i get change at each boarder? I always like to carry a small amount of local money...
